His "malicious and sometimes strong satire" towards the PRL regime brought him serious troubles – he was even sentenced for the drawing "Ryszard IV" and interned during martial law. After leaving for the USA in 1982, he collaborated with "The New York Times" and "The Wall Street Journal", returning to the country in 1997.
