Andrzej Czeczot - original satirical drawing 'From USA Life' - 1980s/90s
We offer you a unique, original work by one of the most important Polish press cartoonists of the 20th century – Andrzej Czeczot. This satirical drawing, titled "From USA Life", was most likely created during the artist's stay in New York (1982-1997) and is an excellent example of his mature, "sophisticated" style, valued by American elites.
Andrzej Czeczot (1933-2012) is a legend of Polish satire. A graduate of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, he debuted in "Szpilki", later regularly publishing in "Polityka" and leading foreign magazines such as "The New Yorker", "The New York Times" and "Pardon". His highly original line and fresh, often controversial ideas made him a guru for a generation of cartoonists, including Andrzej Mleczko. For the drawing "Richard IV" he was sentenced in the 1970s, and interned during martial law.
The presented drawing is a true piece of Polish culture and journalism history. The work comes from the artist's emigration period, when, collaborating with prestigious titles, he commented on American reality with his characteristic irony and insight. It is an object of immense collector and museum value, ideal for art lovers, caricature enthusiasts, Polish history buffs, and collectors of works by outstanding creators.
The drawing is not only an ornament but also an investment in the work of a renowned artist, whose works are in the collections of the Museum of Caricature in Warsaw and enjoy unwavering interest.
