Diploma awarding the commemorative medal of the 100th birthday of Emperor Wilhelm I - 1897

A unique and authentic historical document, confirming the award of a commemorative medal on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Emperor Wilhelm I (1797-1897). This official diploma is not only a testament to the era, but also a tangible trace of the history of a specific soldier – pioneer Metzielski from the 3rd company of the Pomeranian Pioneer Battalion No. 4. Medal, to which the document refers, was established by the Emperor to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the "Great Emperor" Wilhelm I. It was made from bronze derived from melted-down cannons, which gives it additional, symbolic military value. The document itself is signed by a major general and director of the United School of Artillery and Engineering, which confirms its authenticity and official character. The content of the diploma, preceded by the patriotic header "For the Emperor, King and Fatherland", precisely describes the circumstances of the award. It is therefore an excellent collectible for enthusiasts of militaria, phaleristics (the study of orders and decorations), the history of the German Empire, and the history of pioneer units. Its value is enhanced by the personalization – the specific surname and unit of the soldier, which allows for further provenance research. This document is a rare opportunity to acquire an original testimony of the Wilhelmine era, ideal for collections of military documents, souvenirs from World War I (as a later veteran's memento), or collections related to the history of Pomerania and engineering units.
