Star of David in brass, second half of the 20th century
Star of David – a symbol of faith, history and identity
The Star of David, also known as the Magen David, is one of the most recognizable symbols of Judaism and the Jewish people. It consists of two overlapping triangles forming a six-pointed star. Although its exact origin remains a mystery, it has become a universal sign of Jewish identity, faith and belonging.
Historically, the Star of David appeared already in antiquity, but it was only in the Middle Ages that it began to be associated with Judaism. In the 19th century it became the official symbol of the Jewish community, and later it appeared on the flag of Israel. For many people, it is not only a religious sign but also an expression of pride in Jewish heritage and culture.
The symbolism of the Star of David is deep and multidimensional. The two triangles may represent the connection between heaven and earth, God and man, or spirituality and materiality. For some, it is also a protective sign, reminding of divine protection over the Jewish people.
In summary, the Star of David is not just a geometric pattern – it is a living testament of faith, history and identity. It combines spirituality, tradition and hope, being one of the most important symbols of Judaism and the Jewish people.
