We present a unique and rare piece of German soldier equipment from the period of World War II – a tropical-type field canteen, known among collectors as the "kokos". This distinctive item was standard equipment for Wehrmacht units, especially those fighting in warm climates, such as the famous Afrika Korps of Rommel.

The canteen is made of pressed wood, bakelite, or fiber – materials that in desert conditions provided thermal insulation, maintaining a relatively low temperature of the liquid. Its unique, rough structure similar to a coconut shell gave it its colloquial name and makes it easily recognizable.

The item clearly shows original production markings, confirming its authenticity and historical value. It features the marking "D.R.G.M." (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster), which indicates a registered utility model in the Third Reich, and the date "42", denoting the year of production – 1942. It is precisely these details that give the item its unique character and great value for the military collector.
