We present a unique and historical commemorative medal, issued by the German veterans' association Kyffhäuserbund. This oval medal, cast in bronze (often found in a gilded version), is a material testimony of homage paid to the soldiers who participated in the struggles of World War I.

On the obverse of the medal is the solemn motto: „Blank die Wehr, Rein die Ehr”, which translates to „Clear weapon, pure honor”, and the dates of the conflict: 1914 1918. The designer of this significant award was Professor Hermann Kurt Hosaeus, whose signature is found at the bottom of the obverse. The reverse contains the full name of the organization „Der Kyffhäuserbund” and a beautiful, patriotic inscription: „Für Treue im Weltkriege. Aufrecht u. stolz gehen wir aus dem Kampfe den wir über vier Jahre gegen eine Welt von Feinden bestanden” („For loyalty in the World War. Upright and proud we emerge from the struggle which we endured for four years against a world of enemies”).

The Kyffhäuserbund medal is an extremely valuable item for collectors of militaria, phaleristics, and relics of World War I history. It is a tangible link to the past, commemorating the experience of the generation that survived the Great War.
