Brass figure of Jesus carrying the cross - Varsaviana 20th century
We present an extremely interesting collector's item — a brass figure of Jesus carrying the cross, inspired by the famous statue standing in front of the Church of the Holy Cross in Warsaw. This is not only an architectural detail, but above all a symbol of faith, hope and perseverance, which for over a century has attracted the eyes of Warsaw residents and tourists.
This figure, probably cast in the first half of the 20th century, is a faithful reproduction of the monument by Andrzej Pruszyński, which was created in Roman foundry in 1898. It depicts Christ bent under the weight of the cross, on the way to Golgotha. On the pedestal of the original statue there is a gilded inscription "Sursum Corda" – "Lift up your hearts", which became the motto of Warsaw and a symbol of rising from the hardships of history.
