We present a unique and authentic piece of German soldier equipment from the Second World War period – a tropical field cap, commonly known as Afrikamütze. This particular specimen is based on the M40 or M43 models, which were standard headgear in extreme climatic conditions.

The cap, made of light, breathable cotton material in khaki/olive color, was used by Wehrmacht soldiers during the campaign in North Africa, southern Europe (Italy, the Balkans), and other hot climate regions. Its construction, often equipped with ventilation holes, provided relative comfort in the heat.

A unique feature of this cap is the sewn-on edelweiss badge (Edelweiss). This distinctive emblem was a mark of belonging to elite mountain units – Gebirgsjäger. Its presence significantly increases the collector value of the item, indicating a possible origin from one of these specialized divisions.

The condition of the cap is visible in the attached photographs. This is a rare and sought-after object for advanced military collectors, especially those focusing on the themes of the Afrika Korps, the war in North Africa, or the mountain troops of the Third Reich.
