Pair of Porcelain Plates - Gardner Factory, Russia, late 19th century

Exceptional pair of porcelain plates, a true treasure for collectors of ceramics and decorative arts. These items come from the renowned Russian Gardner manufactory, which from the second half of the 18th century set the quality standards in porcelain production within the Russian Empire. The pair presents itself extremely elegantly, and its collector value is beyond measure.

The plates feature classic, sometimes neoclassical or Empire-style design, typical of high-quality Gardner products from the late 19th century. One can expect delicate, creamy white porcelain with excellent translucency, decorated with precisely applied gilded or cobalt borders, floral or heraldic motifs. On the underside of each plate, there should be a characteristic underglaze factory mark – most often a double-headed eagle or the inscription "Gardner" in Cyrillic, which guarantees authenticity and origin.

Why is this pair exceptional?

  • Origin: The Gardner Factory (Фарфоровый завод Гарднера) in Verbilki near Moscow was the first private and one of the most famous porcelain manufactories in Russia, competing with the Imperial Porcelain Factory.

  • Quality: Gardner products were renowned for their excellent porcelain body, precise molding, and durable, subtle decorations.

  • Condition: The pair of plates is in collector condition, which emphasizes their authenticity and gives them a unique charm.

Ideal as a decoration for a stylish interior, a complement to a dinnerware porcelain collection, or a refined gift for a lover of history and antiques. It is an investment in a piece of material history of Russian artistic craftsmanship.
