Hand-woven decorative fabric from Turkmenistan - over 2 m, early 20th century.
We invite you to discover a unique piece of history and craftsmanship – a over two-meter long, hand-woven decorative fabric from Turkmenistan, dating to the early 20th century. This impressive textile artifact is not only a decoration, but also a testament to the rich weaving tradition of Turkmen tribes, famous for their intricate patterns and durable, natural dyes.
The fabric, measuring approximately 235 cm in length (including fringes) by 45 cm in width, has been preserved in very good condition, which highlights its collector value. The fringes constitute an authentic finish to the work, adding character and confirming the hand-made execution. Fabrics of this type served various functions – from decorative elements of the yurt (e.g., as "kapa" or "ensi"), through wall hangings, to covers and throws, being at the same time an expression of status and cultural identity.
