Silver copy from the era of the medal Alexander III 1881-1894, 1892, W. Nikonow
We present an extraordinary silver copy of a medal commemorating Tsar Alexander III (reigning 1881–1894). The medal was struck in 1892 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Engineers, and its author is the renowned Russian medalist W. Nikonow (obverse) and A. Griliches sen. (reverse).
The obverse features busts of three emperors – Alexander III, Alexander II, and Nicholas I – facing right, crowned and surrounded by a laurel-oak wreath. This is an excellent example of Tsarist medal art, combining the symbolism of power, tradition, and patriarchy. The reverse, meanwhile, bears an inscription commemorating the jubilee of the Institute of Engineers.
The item is made of silver, in excellent condition, and represents a unique historical keepsake. Ideal for collectors of medals, numismatists, lovers of Tsarist Russian history, and those seeking rare period accessories.
