We present an extremely rare and spiritually profound Thai Buddhist votive tablet in Sukhothai style, originating from the Ayutthaya period (14th–18th century). It is not only a collector's item but also an authentic artifact of immense cultural and religious significance, transporting us to the flourishing times of Theravada Buddhism in Southeast Asia.

The tablet is made of terracotta or stone (to be verified upon inspection), and its form follows the classical canon of Sukhothai art – a period considered the golden age of Thai sculpture and painting. The central figure is a standing Buddha in the mudra (gesture) of Vitarka or Abhaya, symbolizing teaching and protection. The delicately modeled facial features, elongated earlobes, serene expression, and characteristic flame atop the cranial protuberance (ushnisha) are typical of this style.

Votive tablets of this type were placed in temples (wat) as offerings by pilgrims and monks. They were believed to bring blessings, protect against evil, and aid in meditation. Worn as amulets, they were thought to ensure prosperity on life's path. A specimen in such good condition is a true find for collectors of Asian art and enthusiasts of Buddhism.
