Perforated Telephone - curiosity from Ukraine - fake(?) as a testament to the era

This is not an ordinary telephone. It is a item with a soul and history that tells of times when things could pretend to be something they were not. Brought from Ukraine, this specimen at first glance may seem like an authentic, old device. However, upon closer inspection, it is clear that we are dealing with a clever fake – a kind of "impostor" of the ongoing war with Russia.

As the seller recalls: "I remember how half a century ago, prayer booklets with a German bullet inside circulated around Warsaw. It is a similar, somewhat modernized item." Just like those items, this telephone is a testament to cunning, need, and times of scarcity, when appearances had to deceive. Perhaps it was intended as a prop, a gadget for a study, or a "showpiece" element in times when owning such equipment was a status symbol.

The telephone is made from a combination of metal (likely tin or aluminum alloys) and bakelite/plastic. Although it is not an original telecommunications device, it certainly constitutes a unique collector's curiosity. It perfectly fits the atmosphere of old everyday items designed to deceive the eye. It is an excellent exhibit for enthusiasts of militaria, items from the PRL or USSR era, as well as for collectors of unusual fakes and historical oddities.

The item is in a condition with visible signs of wear, which further emphasizes its authentic history. We recommend it to everyone looking for an unusual conversation starter, a prop for a film, or an original addition to their collection.
