Initially, the late Qing later introduced the technique of enamel painting, known as yangcai (洋彩), which allowed the use of delicate and varied colors. Initially, five colors were used, but later this range was expanded, allowing for the creation of more complex and realistic scenes1. During the Qing period, many famous glazes from previous dynasties, such as Song, Yuan, and Ming, were also reproduced, as well as new, more colorful glazes being created.
