Chinese Vase from the Qing Dynasty, 19th century
Ceramics from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) is one of the most famous achievements of Chinese ceramic art. During this period, significant technological and artistic advances occurred. Initially, after the fall of the Ming Dynasty, the porcelain factories in Jingdezhen were rebuilt under the reign of Emperor Kangxi. During the Qing period, multicolored glazes were developed, which were produced at higher temperatures, giving them a more intense shine.
Initially, the late Qing later introduced the technique of enamel painting, known as yangcai (洋彩), which allowed the use of delicate and varied colors. Initially, five colors were used, but later this range was expanded, allowing for the creation of more complex and realistic scenes. During the Qing period, many famous glazes from previous dynasties, such as Song, Yuan, and Ming, were also reproduced, as well as new, more colorful glazes being created.
