Biedermeier Mantel Clock - Hamburg-Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik (HAC), 19th century.
Biedermeier mantel clock, manufactured by Hamburg-Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik (HAC), dating from the 19th century. The clock on a base about 30 cm, made of light wood, with an elliptical glass in the body showing the pendulum mechanism, flanked by a pair of decorative columns. The dial is its central point. The clock is topped with an arch of dark wood, on the peak of which sits a decorative eagle. The HAC factory from which it originates was founded in 1873, specializing in producing clocks in various historicizing styles, often referencing the Empire style (which was one of the sources of inspiration for Biedermeier). Clocks styled after Biedermeier were mainly produced at the end of the 19th century. The clock has a slight crack above the left column; aside from this small defect, it is in good condition.
