Mantel clock with griffins The Lux Clock & CO , manufactured in the USA (working). The Lux Clock Manufacturing Company was founded by Paul Lux in 1914 in Waterbury, Connecticut (USA). The main period of clock production was before 1941. Various models were produced: table clocks, mantel clocks, alarm clocks. This particular model features decoration in the form of a pair of griffins flanking the clock face. This is an orientalizing motif, originating from ancient times, where griffins were considered magical creatures. Around the griffins wraps an ornate volute, which significantly enhances the decoration of the clock. The clock face in the shape of an octagon has Roman numerals.
